As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I call on over 20 years of experience in the healthcare field and my training in both public health and counselling psychology. I use a holistic approach that recognizes that good mental health is not just the absence of mental illness or distress but is also rooted in healthy relationships, a fulfilling home and community life, purposeful work and career options, and overall physical and mental wellbeing. Using a variety of techniques, I enjoy working with individuals and couples who are navigating life transitions. Among others, these transitions can include:
To address these and other issues, I offer individual, couples, and career and lifestyle counselling, as well as leadership counselling and consulting for individuals, groups, and organizations.
Individual therapy can help you in many ways and can lead to a new understanding about yourself, healthy changes in behaviour, new ways to deal with problems, and improved relationships with the people around you. I work in partnership with clients to explore a variety of issues that may impact their lives. These can include:
Couples seek out counselling for a wide variety of reasons and at different stages of their relationship. Often, a couple will seek help to navigate life's daily struggles, including money matters, parenting, and spending enough time together. Sometimes, counselling is needed to also deal with more complex issues. Just a small sample of these issues can include:
Career and Lifestyle Counselling
Our jobs, careers or even our hobbies and volunteer work can consume a significant portion of our lives and bring us joy and fulfillment or stress and unhappiness. I work with clients as a therapist, exploring the thoughts and emotions that may get in the way of their career and lifestyle success, but also as a coach that can provide guidance on searching for opportunities, interviewing, networking, and negotiating, among other career and lifestyle skills.
Leadership Counselling and Consulting
As a former healthcare executive, I understand the challenges that leaders can face in building and maintaining a successful, functioning workplace team. I work with individual leadership clients by providing a spectrum of services that ranges from counselling therapy to address your fears and anxieties as a leader to a personal coach who can advise you on your professional development and leadership path. Similarly, I can work with teams using organizational development practices that foster trust, authenticity, and cooperation in the workplace.

What to Expect
During the counselling journey, I’ll work with you as a guide who walks beside you as you reflect on your life, explore your goals and desires, and work to make changes to restore direction, meaning and balance.
During our first consultation meeting, I will begin by asking you what made you seek out counselling. I will take time to answer any questions you may have about how we can work together and you can begin to explore what goals you would like to reach while in counselling.
It is important to me that you feel comfortable and confident that we can work together so that our partnership is as effective as possible. If you decide to move forward with counselling services, you will be asked to sign a consent form that describes the risks and benefits of counselling, costs, confidentiality, and other important information.
We will then schedule our next few sessions together. During these and upcoming sessions, I will periodically check in with you to see if we are making progress towards your goals and if you are getting what you need out of the counselling process.
The number of sessions needed by a client is different for each person and can depend on many things, including issues and goals brought to counselling, insurance coverage and affordability, and ongoing benefits perceived by the client, among others. The important thing is that we will check in with each other along the way to make sure that your needs are being met and that you continue to benefit from the counselling process.
Rates for Individual, Couples, and Career and Lifestyle Counselling
Our first consultation meeting is free and will last approximately 20-30 minutes. This meeting can take place in person or over the phone based on your needs. This session is an opportunity for you to get to know how I work, ask any questions you may have, and allow us to decide together how we can best work with each other.
Our regular sessions together will be 50 minutes long and the fee for each session is $120 (includes taxes). This fee is due before the start of each session, and you can pay using a personal cheque, cash, or credit card. If you are using insurance, I am happy to provide you with a receipt so you can be reimbursed by your insurance company. I do not bill insurance companies directly.
I do offer a limited number of clients struggling with economic hardship a reduced, sliding-scale fee. If you need this option, please inquire during our first introductory meeting.
Rates for Leadership Counselling and Consulting for Individuals, Groups, and Organizations
The cost for individual leadership counselling and consulting is the same as other forms of counselling above and also includes a free 20-30 minute consultation session. Each session will be $120 and last 50 minutes.
Fees for group and organizational services are typically $120 per hour, though this cost is negotiable based on the size of the group/organization, extent of services provided, and time required to provide services. Please contact me directly at 778-828-1692 to discuss further.
