Clare Fuller is a certified psychotherapist with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CPCA). She has been in private practice since 2010 and has a Masters in Psychotherapy and Spirituality from St. Stephen’s College at the University of Alberta. Clare holds two Bachelor degrees, one in education and one in psychology and three Master’s degrees in speech pathology, environmental studies and psychotherapy. She is mother of two grown children. As part of her own psycho-emotional and spiritual growth she has mentored with Lennie Tan in deep spiritual and energy work for twelve years, working to integrate psychological growth with spiritual growth. Through this process she has learned the use of energy work in personal healing.
"In any situation, it is within us to heal and find the core of our suffering. In grief, we revisit so many aspects of what life is for us. In trauma, we are made aware of our own strengths and vulnerabilities and need to find a balance in who we are. Symptoms of our suffering such as depression and anxiety can tell us much about our need to self-examine – our lives and ourselves."
Life is a journey of learning to be fully ourselves. But life is not always easy. We accumulate so many beliefs and reactive patterns that interfere with the full expression of our authentic selves. Healing is an un-layering of these beliefs and reactions that do not support us in our journeys. At the core we find peace, understanding and an acceptance of ourselves and others around us. I believe all of our journeys are unique and yet there is a human core that we all share, allowing us to support and love each other, especially when life presents us with challenges.
My practice encompasses many theories and practices of psychotherapy, but my central core is Rogerian, which means that I practice authenticity, unconditional acceptance and empathy towards my clients. I apply different techniques depending on the appropriateness, such as cognitive, narrative, existential and mindfulness therapy. I also practice EMDR therapy which can ease the disturbance of past traumas and support the growth of positive self beliefs. My work is informed and can encompass energy work. I trained as a spiritual psychotherapist because I think that in this new century so many of us are incorporating our spirituality into our whole lives. I work with spirituality as needed and as requested by clients. I have also trained in EMDR becasue I see the benefits of settling past emotional debt within ourselves to bring oneself fully into the present.
I see clients at the office in Vancouver and in Fort Langley but I can see elderly and home bound clients in their homes. I will support clients in short term therapy or longer therapy addressing deeper issues and personal growth. Sessions are usually weekly. I also can provide what I refer to as “awareness mentoring”. This work can be done in groups or individually and requires less frequent sessions."
