I have devoted my career to working with many of the most challenging client populations in both the public and private sector. I have extensive experience case managing and treating clients with complex challenges, such as physical and mental health in combination with both addiction and trauma. My career has involved working as a clinical counsellor at the Center for Concurrent Disorders to team lead at Covenant House, where I managed crisis for homeless youth. I also worked as a youth concurrent disorders clinician providing youth and family counselling. Further to this, I have worked as a clinical counsellor treating mental health and substance use concerns for adult marginalized populations living on the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.
These experiences have motivated me to develop a focused interest in treating trauma, which led to me becoming a certified EMDR Therapist. In my subsequent clinical work, I have introduced the use of EMDR to successfully treat PTSD and Complex Trauma in clients with co-occurring addiction and mental illness. I also have specialized training in treating dissociative disorders. In working with PTSD and dissociation, I draw on Dialectic Behaviour skills and parts work to teach clients how to regulate their nervous system.
