Life can be full of challenges and problems that cause stress, confusion, anger, insecurity, indecision, shame, physical pain, illness, exhaustion and lethargy, frustration, worry, anxiety, guilt, regret, grief, hopelessness, emptiness and sadness, compassion fatigue and burnout. We may feel stuck. We may feel powerless. After exploring the problem or problems, I will help you determine solutions based on what you would like to see changed. Then together we will come up with a plan.
I had extensive training while earning my Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology at UBC, and I have 15 years experience with a wide variety of approaches to help tackle problems and find solutions. I have had the honour of teaching, coaching and supervising counselling psychology graduate students for many years now. One of my areas of interest continues to be working with multicultural and cross cultural issues and supporting our newcomers as they navigate settling in Canada .
In general people have many things in common, but their experiences are most often unique. Therefore I incorporate a wide variety of techniques into my practice. But the foundation of my work is to really understand your perspective with respect, empathy and genuine caring.
