Practice Information:
My #1 priority is to help people overcome addictive behaviours such as substance misuse, eating disorders, smoking, gambling, internet addiction, compulsive over-spending, and codependency in relationships. I assist people in making the choice to stop their addictions so that they can lead rich and meaningful lives. As well as working with addicts, I also counsel family and friends whose loved ones are struggling with addiction, helping them to set appropriate boundaries and put more attention on their own lives. This not only improves their quality of life but also helps their addicted loved ones.
With over 20 years of experience as a therapist, educator and consultant, and with an M.A. in Counselling Psychology, I assist clients with issues that relate to self-esteem, self-care, family of origin, and relationships through individual, couple, and family therapy. I also offer Self-Care for the Caregiver workshops as well as facilitator training and client groups for the "16 Steps for Discovery and Empowerment" as developed by Dr. Charlotte Kasl.
By working with me, you will benefit from having a therapist who has her own personal experience of recovery from addiction. With over 22 years of abstinence from my own addictive behaviours, I understand what you are going through and offer non-judgemental assistance to you as we go through this phase of your journey together.
