In 1992, Theodore Roszak wrote a book called The Voice of the Earth. In it, he laid the groundwork for a new field within psychology called Ecopsychology. Ecopsychology recognizes that the healing of ourselves and the healing of our world are interrelated. It deepens the relationship between the self, nature and the cosmos, recognizing the spiritual dimension of the human-nature relationship.
Interest in spirituality continues growing. More than ever, the
spiritual is the focus of books, magazines, movies, and television talk
shows. A deep hunger for meaning and a hope for personal and universal
peace are what most people express as important in their lives. The
entire world has been collectively affected by the events of September
11. Seemingly, every individual has responded in a unique and personal
way, whether loud and demonstrative or quiet and reflective. What is
You get one of those annoying phone calls offering you the deal of a
life time, you respectfully cut the call short and go back to eating
your dinner. You've just set a boundary. A feeling of entitlement helps
you to understand that how you use your time (irrelevant phone call or
enjoying your dinner) is a choice that you get to make and then
communicate. Boundaries make it more clear where you end and I begin
and visa versa. Healthy boundaries help you know who you are. That's
important as you interact with other people.
Anxiety is a complicated emotional and physiological response to
stress,confusion, uncertainty, threat or danger. It can be
constructive, alerting us to potential harm and triggering the chemical
reactions our bodies need to respond quickly to a threat. The
physiological response is part of our inherited stress response. While
the senses register "threat," the emotional response is fear/alert" and
the body simultaneously prepares us to escape, fight or freeze.

Eating Disorders – Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Binge Eating –
are affecting ever-greater numbers of people in North America and are
spreading quickly to other parts of the world. Most sufferers are women
though there is an increasing number of men who suffer from these
disorders. Many are teen-agers. Some are children as young as seven.
